The dashing projector headlamps and LED DRLs, LED tail lights, dual-tone bumpers, a sleek and stylish dashboard, premium-looking roof rails, the R16 Diamond cut Alloy wheels, and the 90-degree opening doors altogether accentuate the aura of TATA Punch. Tata Punch has a design that closely matches the HBX concept, with a similar split-headlight setup to the Harrier and Safari. The signature ‘humanity line’ grille also hints to a link to the larger SUVs. The Punch and the HBX concept differ only in the design of the rear bumper, where the huge silver skid plate has been replaced by a simpler, diffuser-like design.

Given the importance of price to Indian buyers, the Tata Punch is now the most affordable sub-compact SUV on the market. The ex-showroom price ranges from Rs. 5.48 lakh to Rs. 9.09 lakh. The base model is ‘Pure’ and the top-of-the-line variant is ‘Creative AMT’, which costs around Rs. 9.09 lakh.

 

 

Specifications  

 

The TATA Punch has dimensions of 3827mm x 1742mm x 1615mm and a wheelbase of 2445mm. Ground clearance measures 187 mm, and the boot capacity is 366 litres. The micro-SUV offers a mileage of 18.82 to 18.97 kmpl and has a 1.2 L Revotron engine with DYNA Pro technology that adds to the Punch’s SUVness. The petrol engine, which is of 1199cc capacity, generates 84.48BHP @ 6000rpm and has a maximum torque of 113Nm @ 3300+/-100 rpm. There is also an engine start/stop capability, which improves the SUV’s fuel efficiency.

 

The Punch, which comes with both manual and automatic transmission options, has a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres. The front suspension is an independent, lower wishbone, McPherson strut, while the rear suspension is a semi-independent twist beam with coil springs and shock absorber. The front brakes of the Punch are disc type, while it is equipped with drum brakes at the rear. The Creative variant gets 195/60 R16 Radial- Tubeless alloy wheels, while the Pure, Adventure, and Accomplished variants have 185/70 R15 Radial-Tubeless wheels.
